Giving My Children a PIECE OF MY MIND for Christmas!
Dec 06, 2021So I jokingly said I was thinking about giving my children a "piece of my mind" for Christmas this year.
I thought it was hilarious.
I'm sure my beautiful adult "children" aren't laughing. In fact, I'm seeing their eyes roll right now.
However, I know for certain that if you're a Momma and your kids are adults you'd most likely want to shop on my page if I were to come up with a clever little way to serve up a piece of your mind to them for Christmas!
But unless we could make our heartfelt gift taste like my Momma's glorified brownies, I'm afraid we won't be very successful in getting our children to unwrap our little present.
But if you think about it for half a minute, this is exactly what God gave us for Christmas. Look how John put it in the first chapter of his gospel book,
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it...
Jesus was the WORD--or the expression, the communication, the piece of mind of God. John went on to say,
"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."
How cool is that?!
God wanted to give us a piece of His mind so He delivered Jesus through Mary and initiated a powerful relationship with us.
As I'm preparing to do a 3 or 4 part series on this subject on my podcast this month, I realized that God's got the right idea.
Of course it didn't take me doing a podcast series to finally realize that God's got the right ideas...but when this thought came to my mind, I did realize that if I really want to give my kids a piece of my mind...
I'd do well to give it to them the way God gave His to us...
not by lecturing them,
or writing to them,
or even podcasting to you inspired by them.
But instead by giving myself. I can give my children a piece of my mind by sharing all of my heart.
I can hang in there through the suffering (like I did with morning sickness),
I can work hard to recover from the impact they have on me (like I did when I lost the weight I gained because of them),
And I can willingly sacrifice my comfort and pleasure when they interact with me (like I did when they woke up bawling in the wee hours of the night).
Momma, we can give our kids a piece of our minds
by sharing all of our hearts!
Encourage them when they are down.
Walk with them no matter how hard they try to shake us off.
You don't have to agree with them in order to love them!
We can do this.
We might have to find some humor along the way.
We might have to release some frustration now and again.
And we might need to commiserate with each other but WE CAN DO THIS!
Be sure to listen to my podcast this month as I share a piece of my mind and all of my heart with my kids.

P.S. The picture attached to this blogpost is of my granddaughters and they are NOT the children I'm referring to in the blogpost, they are practically perfect in every way!
